Daily status
The purpose of aical is to help people have a healthier lifestyle and to be able to easily count their nutritional intake. When we designed the application the focus was on the present and what is your status today. The UI is minimal and only focuses on your current nutritional intake. Besides classic calorie counter apps, aical also provides information regarding other nutritional values such as fiber, proteins, carbs and fat.

Vast details
It's important to have a full overview of all your day when you are measuring your nutritional intake, that is why we created a full overview of your days in which you can see detailed information regarding what you ate. In addition to this, you can also see the % of the meal from your total daily intake and the picture of the food you've snapped.

Photos & Barcode snaps
Our goal for this app was to make calorie counting easy. That's is why we have implemented a new input mechanism, all you have to do is snap a picture of your food or the barcode of your favorite snack. Our approach used AI algorithms and recognizes food or barcodes from your snaps. With some AI magic we are turning pictures intro nutritional data!

Increased accuracy
We use a mathematical approach when detecting sizes and foods from pictures, for the ones who want better accuracy we have developed a manual mode that allows the users to manually tweaking the foods they analyze.

Hey Siri, count my calories!
You always have to be ahead of one step of your competition that's why we have implemented the world's first voice-controlled nutritional intake counter. All you have to do is chose a keyphrase and use Siri as you would normally use for other tasks. Calories counting just became as easy as "Hey Siri, count my calories!"

Take away and
challenges
The major challenges of this project were to find a design centered on the user and present and image detection. We overcome the design one by creating a minimalist design which also supports dark mode and enhanced it with haptic feedback.
Technical challenges are another dish we love to devour, while at first, it seemed a tremendous task for at least a few dozens of people, we have managed to overcome it with our in-house team of experts with a small, and on a budget team.
The most important take away for us was that we can overcome all the technical challenges if we do our research right. Another important aspect was if you create something you would love to use, probably other people will use it to, that is why all our team became healthier as they all started to count their calories.
